Dana Ruprecht of Ashes of Roses and my beautiful wife asked me to take some relaxed portraits of her that she could use for an article that was being written about her in the Hamilton Spectator. Dana was the lead actress in a play called "Chapter Two" which just wrapped up at Theatre Burlington. The article was equal parts about Dana's history in acting and the role she was bringing to life in Chapter Two.

Remembering back not so long ago taking pictures of my then pregnant wife Dana, she had this wonderful radiating glow to her. I think it’s all part of the process for women: they are just bursting with all these emotions that they lend themselves to some really great photos. This was certainly the case when I photographed Angel. And it wasn't just Angel who was beaming this fine morning, it was the rest of her family too. The Massey-Singh's are some of the happiest people I know and it's an honour to have been able to spend a couple of hours with them making some photographs.

Back in February, I attended a workshop hosted by Rick Denham on Off Camera Flash photography. This topic has been gaining in popularity over the past couple of years, mainly because it allows a photographer to capture some big results using smaller, more portable Speedlites. Blogs such as Strobist.com have millions of readers and have really driven home the practical aspects of this technique. So, I ventured to a two-day course to hopefully hone my skills and meet some other photographers with the same passions.
