Featured On….

Posted on 11 April 2011 by tcp

A couple of weeks I was contacted by the author and administrator of the Ontario Wedding Blog and was asked if I’d like to contribute some of my photos for a feature on David’s Restaurant in Port Dover. If you recall, I shot Kerri and Josh’s wedding ceremony there last year.

David’s Restaurant is a gorgeous location for a wedding ceremony or reception. Their back lawns overlook the water and are a perfect place to capture some wonderful memories. If you are willing to make the trip to Port Dover, David’s is definitely a place you must check out.

Live Concert: The Trews at the Tatoo Rock Parlor

Posted on 24 March 2011 by tcp

Back in December, I had the privilege of being invited to The Verge/XM Radio’s Christmas Party at the Tatoo Rock Parlor. This particular party featured a two set acoustic show by none other than The Trews. The music was great, the vibe was cool, and it was a great time to take some photos. Because there was no pressure to shoot for anyone else, I thought it would be a good time to try shooting a series in B/W. I absolutely LOVE the contrasty look these photos took on.

I hope you enjoy them too!

Cheers!

Live Theatre: The Subject Was Roses

Posted on 08 January 2011 by tcp

“The Subject Was Roses is a Pulitzer Prize-winning 1964 play written by Frank D. Gilroy, who also adapted the work in 1968 for film with the same title.” My good friend Dia Frid directed the play on stage at the Little Burlington Theatre and was kind enough to ask me to shoot it for her. I must say, I always enjoy making photographs of theatrical plays because there are usually so many wonderful moments that happen over the course of a couple of hours. Whether it be a piece of dramatic stage lighting, or an expression from one of the actors, or even an intense moment between two characters, there is never a shortage of moments to capture.

I hope you enjoy some of the photos I’ve posted below and please remember to support your local theatres!

Cheers!

Reid | Ferguson Wedding

Posted on 16 December 2010 by tcp

Anastasia Reid & Grant Ferguson were married in front of friends and family in Toronto Ontario on August 20th, 2010. The ceremony took place at The Old Mill and the reception immediately followed in the elegant “Brule Room” which is also at the same location. Anastasia and Grant opted for the ever popular “first look” which meant that they got to see each other before the wedding ceremony. They also gathered their wedding party as well as some immediate family for a few photographs during this time. The day was beautifully sunny with lots of opportunities to capture Anastasia and Grant’s radiating love for each other. They were married under candle light in the chapel at the Old Mill where a warm glow from the sun pierced through the stained glass, illuminating the beautiful scene.

The reception followed in the Brule Room C at The Old Mill. Friends and family, young and old, ate, drank and danced the night away. It was such a beautiful sight to see Anastasia and Grant surrounded by such love and support from their loved ones. A great time was had by all.

Below are some images taken on Anastasia and Grant’s wedding day. I hope you enjoy.

Cheers!

Live Concert: The Hip at the Danforth Music Hall

Posted on 01 May 2009 by tcp

It’s like riding a bike after years of not being on one. You just fall into a rhythm and let your feelings take over. That’s what I felt last Friday night when I photographed The Tragically Hip at a special intimate theatre gig at the Danforth Music Hall. The band has recently returned to the scene with a new album and have followed with an extensive multi-night tour. This show was deemed a “warm-up show” when really, it was clear the band was (and is) in top form.

Below are some examples of the photos I took that night. Please feel free to register and leave a comment. I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Live Theatre: Copenhagen

Posted on 19 March 2009 by tcp

Last week I shot another play out at Threatre Burlington called Copenhagen. This play had three actors who were on stage the entire time!! The play “concerns a meeting between two brilliant scientists who had once done ground-breaking research together on the atom. Set in 1941, German physicist Werner Heisenberg makes a trip to Copenhagen to see Niels Bohr, a friend and colleague with whom he now has an estranged relationship.”

This play was moving on to festival as of this week and I wish them all the best and much success!

Live Theatre: Trying

Posted on 05 February 2009 by tcp

In mid-2008, I shot another play directed by Dia Frid called ‘Trying.’ The play featured two actors (Carolyn Campbell & Vince Carlin), who were on the stage together the entire length of the play. Both are excellent actors and made this difficult feat seem easy as pie. I much enjoy looking back through these pictures as both Carolyn and Vince are very animated with their facial expressions and gestures. Live theatre is an experience in itself to shoot, one that I completely enjoy.

Live Concert: The Hip in Toronto

Posted on 27 January 2009 by tcp

My favourite band, The Tragically Hip played one of my favourite venues to see them in, The Air Canada Centre. I was again very blessed to be able to shoot the Hip from such a close range with my pro gear. As you will see below, I believe I have been really able to capture the essence of The Hip’s live show. There is so much energy, it just exudes from my photos. As always, I am quite happy with the results.

Live Theatre: Ring Round The Moon

Posted on 27 January 2009 by tcp

In February of 2006, I was fortunate enough to shoot a play called Ring Round The Moon. The photos were used in the community section of a local newspaper and were given to the director as a gift from her actors and actresses. This play featured many extravagant set designs and very moody lighting. I made these photographs during their dress rehearsal where I had free roam of the theatre. All in all, it was a fun play to shoot and the director was very moved by my results.

Live Concert: Wintersleep

Posted on 26 January 2009 by tcp

Quickly becoming one of my favourite bands is Wintersleep. They are pretty much still and “Indie” band but have seen some rising success with their latest album “Welcome to the Night Sky.” In particular, the song “Weighty Ghost” has seen some success on mainstream radio. Personally, you need to hear “Nerves Normal, Breath Normal” (especially the 15-minute live version), “Orca”, and “Home” to really get a feel for the band. And most certainly, if you ever get a chance to see them live, go and enjoy it.

So below are some photos I made at a show at the Mod Club in November of 2007. Have a watch out for future sets of this band as well as I’ve had a chance to shoot them a couple of times now.

Enjoy!
