Maternity Session: The Massey-Singhs

AngelMaternity_061

Remembering back not so long ago taking pictures of my then pregnant wife Dana, she had this wonderful radiating glow to her. I think it’s all part of the process for women: they are just bursting with all these emotions that they lend themselves to some really great photos. This was certainly the case when I photographed Angel. And it wasn't just Angel who was beaming this fine morning, it was the rest of her family too. The Massey-Singh's are some of the happiest people I know and it's an honour to have been able to spend a couple of hours with them making some photographs. I hope you enjoy...

Lacelle | Rudow Wedding

bc_wedding_231

Brandy and Craig were married on June 12th, 2010 in the K-W area. We started our day at Craig's place in Kitchener where he was getting ready with his boys. We then hopped over to Billy and Charlene Lacelle's place where Brandy and her ladies were getting ready. Brandy and Craig were married in a little white chapel in Doon Village. They professed their love for each other in front of friends and family on what turned out to be a beautiful day in June. We then went and made some photos in and around the Doon Ruins, and over at the Victoria Park Pavillion where the reception was being held. The party...

Engagement Session: Anastasia & Grant

AG_Engagement088

Anastasia and Grant have to be the sweetest couple I've ever met, and I've met a lot of sweet people in my lifetime! I have the distinct pleasure of photographing their wedding in August at The Old Mill in Toronto. But before we get there, Anastasia and Grant were looking for some engagement photos of them celebrating this most happy time in their lives. So, one Sunday in May, we headed down to Osgoode Hall in downtown Toronto to make some photographs. Grant is a lawyer so the buildings, not only with their historic significance, but their architectural beauty as well, hold a special place in Grant's...

Murray | McAloney Wedding Reception

S&Creception_155

Sarah Murray and Chris McAloney were married in Las Vegas earlier this year and to celebrate, they had a wedding reception for friends and family at the Rotary Glen of Brampton. I was approached by Sarah's sister Serena about doing some photography for the event and we decided that a "Mock Photobooth" would be the way to go! Guests were able to let loose in front of the camera and I was there to document it! This type of setup is great for capturing images you can then send to your guests in their thank you cards. Some guests use the opportunity to get a nice portrait done with their families,...

The Riverbend Inn

RDenhamWShop_017

As I participated in the Off Camera Lighting workshop held by Rick Denham (for more information on the workshop and some of my results from weekend, click here) I had the privilege of staying at the luxurious Riverbend Inn in Niagara-on-the-Lake. It's too easy to feel like a King when you are staying at a stunning place like this! And even though it was cold, and snowy, and COLD, it didn't stop me from walking the grounds and getting some shots. Results are below, I hope you enjoy. Cheers! t.

WORKSHOP: Off Camera Flash with Rick Denham

RDenhamWShop_001

Back in February, I attended a workshop hosted by Rick Denham on Off Camera Flash photography. This topic has been gaining in popularity over the past couple of years, mainly because it allows a photographer to capture some big results using smaller, more portable Speedlites. Blogs such as Strobist.com have millions of readers and have really driven home the practical aspects of this technique. So, I ventured to a two-day course to hopefully hone my skills and meet some other photographers with the same passions. Rick set up a website based on the course called OCF Bootcamp if you are interested...

Exploring Creativity: Pink Macro Daisies

MacroDaisies-007

In the ongoing attempt to keep shooting for personal gain, even when there isn't time to do so, a little while back I took the opportunity one Saturday morning to shoot some Gerbera Daisies using my Canon 100mm f2.8 Macro lens. It's a nice lens, but I haven't used it enough....yet. ...and come to think of it, this shoot was the last time I bought my wife flowers. *EDIT: Until last night! LOL! So below are some different perspectives and close-ups of flowers. These were all shot using natural picture-window light, with white foam core used as a reflector for fill. Your comments are always...

Easthope Family Portraits in Gage Park

Easthope-051

A few weeks ago, I spent the morning with the Easthope family in downtown Brampton at Gage Park, enjoying the beautiful weather and taking some family portraits. This was a session that had been delayed twice because of unruly weather conditions and we were so happy to have a nice morning to shoot. When doing any portrait session outside, the weather can either be your best friend or your worst enemy. Mother Nature was the former on this day. Below are some examples of the photos we took. If you or any of your friends/family/colleagues are looking for relaxed, candid portraits, please contact...

Scott Kelby’s World Wide Photo Walk

StonehouseDistillery

Back in the middle of July, my good friend Chris Kirkpatrick and I participated in Scott Kelby's World Wide Photo Walk (Link here). For those of you who are unfamiliar, Scott Kelby is a professional photographer and a widely recognized Photoshop guru. How known is he you may ask? Well, to put things in perspective, his photo walk idea garnered over 32,000 participants in over 900 cities!!! That's pretty popular if you ask me! So Chris and I met up with 48 other photographers and began walking through the Distillery District in downtown Toronto. Photo walks are all about shooting with other photographers,...

Live Concert: Matisyahu at The Opera House

Matisyahu-024

It was a dark room. I mean, really dark! But then again, The Opera House was not known for it's outstanding lighting. The opening band "Dub Trio" (website here) had just left the stage and headlining Matisyahu was up next. I took my spot in the pit, conferred briefly with security (introducing myself, making sure they were cool in understanding the access I had been given, etc.) and set up shop. I didn't really know what to expect, I'll be honest, I hadn't heard of Matisyahu before a friend mentioned his name two weeks prior. But as the lights dimmed (can you believe that - it was already pitch...
