Brockville Tunnel

The Brockville Tunnel was built as part of Canada’s first railway in 1860. It’s full of amazing rock, stunning views and super eerie atmosphere. It has been turned into a mixed-multimedia installation poised to hit all your senses. It has music playing throughout the tunnel, water dripping down the rocks in some places (I’m not sure this was intentional but it really adds to the experience), LED strip lights running down either side of the path that change colours, and a red sequence of lights that moves through the tunnel representing a train passing through.

This is a great example of a historic landmark using technology to enhance the experience. Entrance to the tunnel is by donation, but I think it’s safe to say that you’ll be impressed and want to help support this project.

I really enjoyed my time here. Using the Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) technique in the tunnel really helped me visualize what it would have looked like to be on a train passing through. I can’t wait to go back.
