My 100 & Me [Week 36]
I’ve been thinking a lot about why the deer frequent our property here at Tett House. It feels like it’s a safety thing for one, we’re high up on a rock, with a great ridge that offers protection for the deer to pass without harm. Or maybe it’s a habit thing, doing something so many times throughout your lifespan that it just becomes an act of nature through sheer repetition. This in turn gets passed down to their young who will pass to their young and so on.
One thing’s for sure, deer that frequent our property know that they are safe here. We often find them lounging in our backyard blending in with the trees that surround them. Or they will be watching us drive up the driveway in (to them at least) must seem like some sort of futuristic spaceship that we call a vehicle, crawling along so not to disturb them. I love stepping out my door to hear a rustling in the forest close by, watching their white tails bounce away as if they were playfully scampering the day away.
Yes, the deer are safe here in our yard. They are free to rest where they please.
