Norwood Sunset

Welcome welcome! This is the first post to my newly revamped blog, simply called “Not From Here.” Why is it called this? Well, as many of you already know, my family and I made a huge lifestyle change by leaving our suburban home and life behind in exchange for a quiet, humbling existence in the country. The photos that I have been taking throughout this process (and will be posting here) document some of the new experiences we are having. In many ways, we are still outsiders, but we’re slowly feeling accepted into our new lives. For now, since we aren’t truly feeling like we are “from around here….” it only makes sense to me to put these images under the Not From here banner. I hope that wasn’t too confusing.

I expect that these images won’t be for everyone but they are what my eye has been seeing and what my camera is documenting. They’re also super close to my heart. I hope you’ll stick with me throughout this process, comment and let me know what you like and what you don’t.

Photography should never be about the end result, it’s about the process and getting out and doing the work. That’s what I plan to do here. Work.

So I’ll leave you with some images I shot on my iPhone, because I foolishly didn’t have my Fuji gear with me at the time. My wife and I literally drove into this sunset on our way through Norwood Ontario. It called my name with it’s majestic reds and oranges that lasted only (what seemed like) a fleeting moment. Nature is so beautiful sometimes!
